What is a Digital Signature Certificate?
A Digital Signature Certificate is the digital equivalent of your hand written signature, issued by a Licensed Certifying Authority (CA) and are legally valid in India. It may include information like mobile number and PAN number in encrypted form.
It is used for digitally signing documents online. Class 3 DSC is now used for all purposes, including MCA21 e-Filing, Income Tax e-Filing, GST e-filing, EPFO, TRACES, CERSAI 2.0, e-tenders & e-procurement, etc.,
DGFT Digital Signature Certificate is used by Exporters/Importers on DGFT portal. Other types of DSCs are Document Signer pfx and for HSM/USB Token.

USB Token is mandatory for download of your Digital Signature Certificate. This enhances the security of your Digital Signature. M-Token (FIPS level-3 certified) is the latest token as per the new CCA guidelines for storing your DSC.
